Simple File Viewer — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2 October 2026. This policy describes the initial version of Simple File Viewer, package com.simplefileviewer.android.
Files you choose and local processing
The app accesses the files you select in Android's system document picker or send to the app using Open with. It reads their contents and available metadata, such as filename, type and size, to display supported documents and provide the actions you request. Document content may contain personal information. Processing happens on your device.
The app does not upload your files to the developer, operate a backend, or request Internet access. It does not require broad storage permission, an account, contacts, location, microphone or camera access. HTML and Markdown display as source text. Office macros and formulas are not executed, and external document resources are not downloaded.
No developer collection, analytics or advertisements
The initial version contains no advertisements, advertising SDK, analytics SDK or developer-operated crash-reporting service. It does not collect or transmit personal information, device identifiers or document contents to the developer.
Temporary storage, retention and deletion
The app may create private temporary copies for viewing, Word/Excel previews, PDF adjustments, export, printing, and ZIP entries. Copies remain available while the related action needs them. Unused or abandoned preview copies are cleaned up by the app. ZIP entries can remain in private cache for at least 24 hours to support other applications receiving their temporary links; expired entries are removed when cleanup runs. Cache sizes are bounded. Cleanup is not a promise of deletion at an exact time.
Android may retain a file-access grant and the app may restore the selected document after activity recreation. These grants allow access to files you already chose; they do not grant general storage access.
You can remove the app's local cache or app data through Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Original files and copies you intentionally save outside the app remain in the destination you choose and must be deleted there. The app is configured to exclude its private data from Android cloud backup and device transfer.
Sharing, opening elsewhere, printing and cloud providers
If you choose Share, Open with another app, Print or Save a copy, Android passes the relevant file or preview to the recipient, document provider or print service you select. These actions are initiated by you. Share normally sends the original document; supported adjustments are saved separately using Save a copy. Extracted ZIP entries use temporary read-only access links.
A document picker may offer a cloud storage provider, and an installed print service or recipient application may use a network connection. Those providers act under their own privacy policies. The app does not control their processing or retention. No background sharing to the developer occurs.
Support enquiries
Public support/privacy contact: kontakt@dimitrioskorakis.com. If you contact support, the receiving email provider and the developer receive the information you choose to send. Please do not send private document contents unless needed and agreed. Support correspondence is separate from app data collection. We use support messages only to respond to your enquiry, retain them for as long as needed to handle that enquiry, and accept deletion requests at the same email address, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Audience
The app is a general document utility intended for users aged 13 and older and is not specifically designed or marketed for young children. It has no account registration or in-app age-verification process. Its Google Play content rating is a separate classification determined by the rating questionnaire.

Future changes
If a later version introduces advertising or changes data handling, this policy, the Google Play declarations and any required in-app disclosures and consent controls will be updated before that version is released. This policy describes the current initial version; it does not describe hypothetical advertising data collection.
